Carella’s Shoes has been proudly serving the Mercerville community with high-quality footwear and exceptional service since 1946. As the oldest privately owned shoe store in Central New Jersey, we take pride in offering a traditional, full-service shoe-buying experience, something that’s increasingly rare today.

For us, shoes are more than just products, they’re a way to care for people. Every shoe we carry is chosen for its craftsmanship, comfort, and support. From toddlers taking their first steps to older adults needing specialized footwear, we’re here to make sure every customer walks out with the perfect fit.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Our story began in 1921, when our great-grandfather Frank Carella emigrated from Italy and opened Capitol Shoe Repair. In 1946, his sons James and Francis joined the business and expanded into retail, laying the foundation for what would become Carella’s Shoes.

Today, Carella’s is proudly run by Francis’s sons; Fred, Carl, Tom, and Paul - who grew up in the store and learned the trade from the ground up. With over 40 years of hands-on experience each, we've gone from sweeping floors to becoming expert fitters and trusted advisors to generations of families across Central New Jersey.

We continue this legacy in loving memory of our father, Francis, and all the family members who worked tirelessly to build a business rooted in service, craftsmanship, and community.

Now, the next generation is stepping in to help move Carella’s Shoes into the future, expanding our presence online, launching social media, and making it possible for customers across the country to shop with us. While the way people shop may be evolving, our commitment to quality and personalized service remains exactly the same.
